| QB Mark Jarmon connects
with Roger Talley for 9 yards to set up 3rd and 2. |
 |
| Emne'ko Sweeney
steps over LG David Weiser on his way to the endzne. |
After holding the Jags
to 3 and out, the Piranha offense took over at their own 32. The Jaguars
defense kept the Piranha running game in check, but Mark Jarmon passes of
9 and 10 yards to Roger Talley and Rasheed Jarmon kept the chains moving.
On a play that looked a lot like the Redskins' "Hogs" running
"counter trey" in front of Timmy Smith during Super Bowl XXII
against Denver, Sweeney took the handoff from Jarmon and headed to the right
behind LG David Weiser and LT Brian Schmick. Weiser dove to get a piece
of LB Dion Alexander allowing Sweeney to evade him in the backfield. Sweeney
then high stepped over Weiser and headed for the corner. He cut back amidst
six Jaguars and was barely touched by only one of them as he headed up field
44 yards for the games first score. Punter Adam Hostetter handled a low
snap with ease and Mike Berry's PAT put the score at 7-0 with 10:38 remaining
in the first quarter. Piranha 7 - Jaguars 0
(See
Sweeney's TD run) |
| . |
 |
| LB Robert Brown tipped
this Piranha pass to CB Anthony Gaynes, who returned it for an apparent
touchdown. |
 |
| Tank Proctor
goes of left tackle for 6 yards. |
A 29 yard kick return
by Milton Myers set up the Jaguars at their own 34 but they still couldn't
muster any offense. On 3rd and 7, QB Leo Dickerson scrambled but was stopped
just inches short of a first down by LB Joe Hollister and CB Andre Davis.
Andre Zahaiko's 46 yard punt went out of bounds at the Piranha 11. After
pounding out 1 first down on the ground the Piranha went to the air. On
3rd and 14, Jarmon was pressured by DE Willie Stewart and LB Dion Alexander.
He forced a pass that was tipped by LB Robert Brown right to CB Anthony
Gaynes. Gaynes returned the ball 33 yards from an apparent score, but a
penalty nullified the last 10 yards of the return. Despite Nathan Proctor
going off left tackle for 6 yards, the Jags couldn't move the ball and were
forced to send on Zahaiko, who connected on a 36 yard field goal with 2:33
left in the first quarter. Piranha 7 - Jaguars 3 |
|
2ND
QUARTER
|
 |
| Despite the presence
of blockers Ali Johnson and Brandon Schmick, DE Nick Caldwell was
able to mirror Jarmon's moves and sack him. |
 |
| DE Dan McMunn
nearly sacks Dickerson for a safety. |
The Piranha took over
at their own 34. Runs of 8 and 3 yards by Ali Johnson got the Piranha
a new set of downs. A disciplined
sack by DE NIck Caldwell moved them back 5, but Johnson regained those
yards on the last play of the quarter. The Piranha opened the 2nd quarter
with a first down on a Jarmon to Jarmon 11 yard strike. Johnson could
only gain 5 yards on his next two carries, and a Piranha receiver was
unable to handle Jarmon's low pass on 3rd down. Adam Hostetter came on
to punt and excellent coverage by Piranha downed the ball at the Jaguar
11.
 |
| Wade Fauntleroy set up
the Piranha offense in great field position with this 31 yard punt
return. |
.....Starting
in the shadow of their own goal post, the Jaguars Nathan Proctor was stopped
for a 1 yard loss (Zielinski, McMunn, Hunter) on 1st down. DE Dan McMunn
got a hold of Dickerson in the endzone on 2nd down, but he was able to
unload the ball in the direction of WR Milton Myers. The Piranha lobbied
for intentional grounding which would have been a safety, but after a
conference the refs decided that the it's nearly impossible for a QB to
throw an accurate pass with a 235 lb. DE dragging him down. On 3rd and
11, Dickerson was able to connect with WR Kenneth Jackson for 14 yards
and a new set of downs. This time Proctor was able to make it back to
the line of scrimmage (Hollister) on first down, and pressure by McMunn
and safety Wade Fauntleroy on 2nd and 3rd downs allowed the Jags to gain
only 2 yards. Zahaiko boomed a 40 yard punt that was fair caught by Johnson
at the Piranha 34, but a penalty on the Jaguars pushed them back 5 yards
and made them punt again. Wade Fauntleroy took advantage of the opportunity
with a 31 yard punt return down to the Jaguar 29 yard line.
..... Two Ali Johnson runs netted the Piranha
only 4 yards, and a penalty pushed them back 5. An incomplete pass on
3rd down forced Mike Berry to attempt a 47 yard field goal but his kick
went wide left.
|
| . |
 |
| Emne'ko Sweeney
stiff arms the Jaguar MLB behind the line of scrimmage on his way
to a 12 yard gain. |
 |
| With Jaguar
safety Milton Myers wrapped firmly around his ankles, Sweeney dives
for his 2nd touchdown. |
.....
Taking over at their own 37 with 7:00 minutes left in the first half, the
Jaguars still couldn't move the ball. Pressure by McMunn on 1st down forced
Dickerson to throw a pass that was nearly intercepted by Hollister. Great
hustle by DE Lamont Hunter on 2nd down forced Dickerson to run and then
stopped him short of the first down. An incomplete pass on 3rd down forced
the Jags to punt for the 4th time in the game. A short punt out of bounds
set up the Piranha at their own 49.
..... Runs of 8 and 12 yards by Sweeney, followed
by a 21 yard scramble by Jarmon, moved the Piranha down to the Jaguars 10.
Runs of 3 and 6 yards by Johnson and Sweeney set up 3rd and goal at the
1. Sweeney swept left and was wrapped up by Milton Myers but was able to
dive and extend the ball over the goal line. Berry's PAT put the Piranha
up 14-3 with 2:51 remaining in the half. |
| . |
 |
| Milton Myers returns
a kickoff 55 yards near the end of the first half. |
.....
Milton Myers fielded the ensuing kickoff at his own 19 and weaved his way
down to the Piranha 26 before being sandwiched between Andre Davis and Mike
Berry. On first down Dickerson found WR Carlos Clark on a crossing route.
Clark spun out of the grasp of LB Joe Hollister and ducked under the clear
shot of FS Troy Jensen. Just as Clark was regaining his stride, LB Mark
McCutcheon lowered the boom. McCutcheon
put his helmet on the ball and Clark on his back. The ball popped loose
and was recovered by LB Decara Burgess at the 22.
..... Emne'ko Sweeney swept right for 23 yards
on first down, but the drive stalled after than and Hostetter's punt was
downed at the 14. A couple of incomplete passed and a sack by McMunn forced
the the Jags to punt the ball right back. The Piranha took over at mid-field
but the Jaguar secondary did not give Jarmon anyone to throw to and the
Piranha ended up running out the clock. |

A
well placed kickoff pinned Milton Myers to the left sideline and he was
only able to return it out to the 28 before being forced out of bounds.
On first down the Jaguars tried to sweep right but Marcell Dunn was met
for a loss by Matt Zielinski and Joe Hollister. Carlos Clark was open
behind the corner on 2nd down but the ball was thrown behind him. Joe
Hollister knocked away a pass intended for TE Landon Bishop forcing the
Jaguars to punt. Andre Zahaiko boomed a 44 yarder that Hassan Brockman
fielded on a hop in the middle of the field. He wasn't able to outflank
the coverage and could only return the ball 3 yards before being forced
out of bounds by Matt Cole and Sam Humble.
.....Starting at their own 32, the Piranha
offense went to work. QB Mark Jarmon handed off to RB Emne'ko Sweeney.
DE Nick Caldwell met the FB in the backfield and knocked him back into
Sweeney's path, tripping him up for a 1 yard loss. Jarmon connected with
WR Roger Talley on a quick out for 9 yards and he was tackled immediately
by CB Anthony Gaynes. On 3rd and 2, Sweeney avoided a diving Dion Alexander
in the backfield and powered through the tackle of the MLB at the line
of scrimmage before being stopped 5 yards downfield by DT Pat Gilbert.
Another Sweeney 1 yard run up the middle (Frank/Gilbert) followed by a
10 yard reception by Rasheed Jarmon (Bowen) set up the Piranha first and
10 at the Jaguars 44. On a play that looked a lot like the Redskin's "Hogs"
running "counter trey" in front of Timmy Smith in Super Bowl
XXII against Denver, Sweeney took the handoff from Jarmon and headed right
behind LG David Weiser and LT Brian Schmick. Weiser dove to get a piece
of LB Dion Alexander. After juking Alexander in the backfield, Sweeney
high stepped over Weiser and headed for the corner. He cut back amidst
six Jaguars and was barely touched by only one of them as he headed up
field 44 yards for the games first score. Punter Adam Hostetter handled
a low snap with ease and Mike Berry's PAT put the score at 7-0 with 10:38
remaining in the first quarter. Piranha 7 - Jaguars

.....A
deeper kickoff down the middle push Myers back to his 4 and he returned
it out to the 33 before being tripped up. On first down Myers was unable
to evade CB Roman Morris on the quick hitch and gained just two yards.
After penalty pushed the Jaguars back five yards, Dickerson hit TE Matt
Cole but was immediately stopped by SS Terrence Miles. Dickerson scrambled
for 7
