Hawks: Brian Carter 3 yard pass from Brad Collins (kick fail - bad snap)

Hawks dominated the first half:
Hawks: 25 plays - 248 yards - 2 TD, 6 first downs, 2 turnovers
Raiders: 34 plays - 97 yards, 6 first downs, 1 turnover (3 fumbled snaps from center)

Raiders defense stepped up in the 2nd half:
Hawks: 30 plays - 90 yards, 6 first downs, 2 turnovers
Raiders: 41 plays - 116 yards - 1 TD, 10 first downs, 2 turnovers

The Hawk offense opened the game at their own 35 after the Raider kickoff went out of bounds. Runs by Sidney Orange and Mike Harris netted 7 yards. On 3rd down, Raider CB Wayne Harris broke on a short Hawk pass and nearly intercepted it. The Raiders took over at their own 30 after a 33 yard Jim Skerski punt that went out of bounds.

After a 4 yard Beau Gates run, the Raiders crossed midfield when QB Kevin Bickler hit Henry Newson for 17 yards and a first down. On 3rd and 1 Beau Gates broke through the Hawk line for 5 yards another first down. After DT Marty Northcroft sacked Bickler for a 2 yard loss, a 9 yard pass to Newson brought up 4th and 3 at the Hawk 28. Playing without their kicker, the Raiders were forced to go for it. Bickler was flushed out of the pocket under heavy pressure from Jared, Toby Delgado and Don Murphy. He barely managed to make it back to the line of scrimmage before being caught.

Starting at the Hawk 28, QB Brad Collins went over the top to WR Williams for a 42 yard gain on first down. Two plays later Collins threw down the middle only to beintercepted by Raider safety Johnny Lyday.

Starting at their own 6, the Raider offense got some breathing room right away when Bickler hit Chad Sorenson for 24 yards. The drive stalled from there and the Raiders were forced to punt from their own 26. Hawk CB Rick Bankston rushed through untouched and blocked the punt so completely that it rolled straight back out of the endzone before anyone could cover it. Hawks 2 - Raiders 0.

Brian Carter returned the free kick across midfield but two personal fouls pushed the ball back to the Hawk 21. Collins and Carter teamed up to erase the penalties when they connected for 39 yards on first down. The drive stalled from there when Wayne Harris broke up Collins 4th down pass attempt. The Raiders could only manage to net one yard before having to punt the ball back. The Hawks were called for holding before the punt giving the Raiders an automatic first down near midfield as the 2nd quarter began. The Hawks managed one first down before a shotgun snap over Bickler's head was recovered by DE Jared.

Collins hit Derrick Smith across the middle for 19 yards moving the ball down to the Raider 18, but the Hawks couldn't overcome a 10 yard penalty on the first down. Kicker Jim Skerski came out to attempt a 39 yard field goal. The kick might have been good from 50-60 yards, if it hadn't been wide left.

The Raiders converted 3rd and 10 from their own 29 with a Terrance Dickens 10 yard reception. Assisted by a couple 5 yard Hawk penalties, the Raiders moved across midfield. MLB Eric Bellamy stuffed RB Alphonso Harris for no gain on 2nd down and then broke up Bickler's pass on 3rd to force the Raiders to punt. A short punt forced the Hawk returner to let the ball bounce. He got a little too close and the ball bounced off his leg and Tyler Leith-Ross was there for the Raiders. The Raiders had a great opportunity with a first down at the Hawk 22 but couldn't capitalize. On 4th and 4, pressure from DT Marty Northcroft forced Bickler to throw an errant pass.

Jimi McCollum's 65 yd TD
Brad Collins hits Brian Carter for 27 yards on the Hawks final drive of the half.

Starting inside their own 20, runs by Harris and Orange brought up 3rd and 3. Orange rambled for 12 yards before being stopped by safeties Alphonso Harris and Johnny Lyday, giving the Hawks a new set of downs. MLB Ryan Harrington pressured Collins into an incomplete pass on first down, but Collins got adequate protection on 2nd down as he lofted a bomb down the left sideline for Jimi McCollum who was running behind the Raider defense. McCollum had to slow up slightly for the ball but once he caught it he was able to outrace the defenders to the endzone. The 65 yard touchdown and Jim Skerski's PAT put the Hawks up 9-0 with 1:33 left in the first half.

Brain Carter had catches of 11 (shown here) , 27 and 3 yards on the Hawks final drive of the half.
Carter celebrates his TD catch at the end of the half.

A deep hanging kickoff by Skerski pinned the Raiders inside their 20. Gates went up the middle for 2 yards as the Raiders tried to run out the clock. The Hawks called timeout forcing the Raiders to try and get a first down. Being a passing team, the Raiders went to the air and two incomplete passes played right into the Hawks time conserving strategy. A short Raider punt went out at the Raider 41. Collins used the hurry up offense and went to Carter for 11 and 27 yards moving the ball down to the 3. Collins then hit Carter on a quick slant for the score as the first half expired.

The teams exchanged '3 and out' drives to start the 3rd quarter. Jose Moreno lofted a 30 yard punt with excellent hang-time that forced the Raider returner to fair catch at his own 15. On their 2nd drive of the quarter the Raiders were able to move out to midfield before having to punt again. A short punt set up the Hawks at their own 31. Despite pressure from DT Kimo Fai-Fai, Collins was able to hit Carter for 33 yards moving the ball deep into Raider territory. Pressure from DT Ty Crowe on first down and DE Donald Hobart on 2nd forced back to back incompletions. Crowe and MLB Ryan Harrington teamed up to sack Collins on 4th down, giving the Raiders the ball at their own 34. They couldn't move the ball and a short punt set up the Hawk offense at the Raider 42 as the 3rd quarter expired.

Collins connected with Carter for 19 yards moving the ball down the 24. Collins went deep down the left sideline on the next play but CB Ali Rolle intercepted at the goal line and returned the ball out to the 15. On 3rd and 10 Bickler avoided the rush and hit Terrance Dickens for 13 yards, but a sack by DE Jared 2 plays later forced the Raiders to punt. Bickler got off a 37 yard punt but Jimi McCollum was able to return it 18 yards back to the Raider 39. Ryan Harrington sacked Collins for a 9 yard loss on first down, but Collins came back to hit Carter for 14 yards on 2nd. On 3rd and 5, #44 and Ali Rolle stuffed Mike Harris for no gain. Then on 4th down, DB Abino Vasquez dropped Sidney Orange for a 4 yard loss.

Starting at their own 38, Bickler hit Chad Soreson for 19 yards and then Henry Newson for 13. A stupid Hawk late hit away from the play advanced the ball down to the Hawk 25. Bickler scrambled down to the 18 but a holding penalty on the next play pushed the Raiders back to the 35. On 3rd and 20 Bickler went deep to Sorenson and the Hawk defender was called for interference at the 2. The Hawk bench disputed the call and was hit with another personal foul moving the ball half the distance to the goal, giving the Raiders a first down at the 1. The Raiders wasted no time as FB Kimo Fai-Fai powered into the endzone over left tackle on first down. The Raiders went for two and Bickler found Sorenson all alone in the middle of the endzone to bring the Raiders within 7.

The Hawks took over at their own 25 and 3 consecutive runs by Mike Harris gained 11 yards and a first down. Collins went deep to Jimi McCollum on the next play but the ball was underthrown. As McCollum tried to come back to the ball the Raider defender ran into him and was called for interference. The 33 yard penalty gave the Hawks a first down at the Raider 31. Safety Johnny Lyday came on a blitz on 1st down and pressured Collins into an incompletion. The Raiders heard the Hawks coaches tell Collins to run the same play so the Raiders defense ran the same play. This time Lyday came in untouched and brutally blindsided Collins, who fumbled the ball. LB Beau Gates recovered at the Raider 43. Collins did not return to the game.

The Raider offense sputtered but on 4th down Bickler found Sorenson for 11 yards and a first down. Again the Raider offense sputtered and this time on 4th and 5 Bickler found Alphonso Harris in the flat. Harris avoided the first Hawk defender and had enough yardage for the first down when he was caught from behind by MLB Eric Bellamy. Bellamy's hit forced Harris to cough up the ball and J. Rolsma recovered for the Hawks.

Guard Dan Poasa escorts Mike Harris on this 21 yard run.
Johnny Lyday

The Hawks took over at the own 16 with time quickly running out on the Raiders. A 21 yard run by Mike Harris (left) had the 'fat lady' warming up but the Raider defense stiffened. Two more runs by Harris gained just 1 yard. On the 2nd run, Harris was hit by LB Ryan Harrington and as they went down they landed on safety Alphonso Harris. Safety Johnny Lyday alertly pulled the ball out before Harris had touched the ground but the officials ruled that Harris was down (right). A short punt out of bounds set up the Raiders at their own 41. On 3rd and 10 Bickler hit Dickens for 9.99 yards, and then Bickler gained 3 yards and a first down on a QB sneak. A 17 yard strike to Dickens moved the ball down to the Hawk 29 with just seconds left. Bickler threw a strike to Roy Johnson at the 5 yard line but the ball was knocked up in the air and intercepted by Bellamy. One kneel down by the Hawks and the game was over.

Hawks defensive line: 3 sacks, 24 QB pressures.

New player to watch:
Raider WR Chad Sorenson:
5 catches - 61 yards

Playoff watch:
If Bucs beat Jets, Hawks will be tied with Jets for 2nd but lose the head-to-head tiebreaker so they'll be the #3 seed and travel to the Jets in the playoffs.

If Jets beat Bucs, Hawks/Bucs will be tied and the points-scored tiebreaker will be used. One team will be #2 seed and will host the #3 seed.

Winner of Raiders @ Jags game will be 4th seed (unless Panthers defeat Jets then they may be tied for 4th).

If the Jets defeat the Panthers then the outcome of Jaguar - Viking game is inconsequential. (If Jags lose to Vikings they'll be tied with Raiders at 3-4 and the winner of the Jags/Raider game will have a better record. If Jags defeat the Vikings they'll be 4-3 but a loss to the Raiders would make both teams 4-4 and the Raiders would hold the head-to-head tie breaker.)

A Panther win over the Jets would make them 4-4. The Raiders hold the head-to-head tie breaker over the Panthers, and currently the Jags hold the points scored tie-breaker over the Panthers. Jags/Panthers do not play each other this year
